Squerryes Court Wedding | Natasha and Nick

Kent Wedding Galleries

Natasha and Nick’s wedding was held in the lovely gardens of Squerryes Court. I still have absolute no idea how you pronouce Squerryes Court, is it squirys, squarys? who knows, but its pretty spectacular none the less : ) The day started in the grand surroundings of the Astor Wing at Hever Castle where Natasha, her mum and friends had spent the night. I arrived to what can only be described as a quintessential English morning, grey and wet! Yeah the weather was looking decidedly dodgy but hey we can’t control that so no need to worry! Some wedding mornings can be pretty hectic but this was nice and calm. As hair and make up was expertly provided by Sarah Rumsey and the awesomely named Stylicorn I went about getting those all important moments before the main event. Bride, Bridesmaids, mother of the bride all looking fabulous it was off to St Boltoph’s church for the wedding ceremony. Church rules said no photos but the vicar was totally charming about it so no problem, just one of those things you have to respect as a wedding photographer. The rain wasn’t going to let up so after the ceremony it was back to Squerryes Court for some much deserved Champagne. It’s this point you have to earn your keep as a wedding photographer. The rains coming down, you’ve got an hour window before dinner and then it’s dark, what are you going to do? The wedding reception is in a marquee provided by Camelot Marquees , it looks great but there’s nowhere to really take a photo in a packed marquee. Well grab your umbrellas and find some cool locations with a bit of cover that’s what you do! Natasha and Nick like all of my couples really cared about their photos, it’s one of the reasons I choose to work with people. So off we went for a quick 20 minute portrait session in the drizzle and the results were really worth it! After that dinner was a Host the Roast provided by Tayberry Foods , delicious and a good laugh as well as one person on each table was nominated host and donned their chefs hat to serve the other guests. Unfortunately the weather meant that a surprise Spitfire flyby for Nick organised by Natasha and her mum had to be cancelled but that didn’t stop the fun and laughs as Natasha’s mum, Nick and his best man all nailed their speeches! I had a great day with these guys, Squerryes Court provided  a great venue which on a drier day would be totally amazing. Natasha and Nick a huge congratulations from me!

Oh Whitstable beach, how I love thee : ) I've shot a lot of weddings in Whitstable, some absolute crackers! When the sun is shining and the winds are calm there are few better places to take photos. It's also a place I visit a lot with Claire and the kids, let them loose on the beach and sit down with some fish and chips whilst the kids wear themselves out, bliss. So I totally understood when Tracy and Matt got in touch and told me how important Whitstable had been in their relationship. The incredible wedding cake pretty much sums it up I think : ) "Hi Paul, We received the photos safely and we are delighted with them. Thank you so, so muc ...

Ready, steady, go!! The smart yet comfy shoes have been given a clean, the shirt and tie dug out of the back of the wardrobe, the terribly creased blazer that I didn't hang up properly ironed, the 2015 wedding season is up and going! My first wedding of the year was the awesome wedding of Amy and Ciara at the East Quay Whitstable Brewery Bar. One of the things I love about my couples is their attitude towards their wedding photography and their willingness to just go for it. Whitstable beach in March is not warm, that's a fact, and on this day the wind was freeeeeeeezing! But that wasn't going to stop Amy and Ciara from hitting the beach a ...
